Public Guardian and Trustee

Services for Children

The Public Guardian and Trustee is official guardian under the Child and Family Services Act and has the exclusive right to determine whether a child requires separate representation by a lawyer or lay person in order to protect the rights and interests of the minor child until the age of 19.

When no other trustee is named, the Public Guardian and Trustee may act as the trustee of estates of minor children and invest funds for children under the age of 19.

*Please note that the Public Guardian and Trustee can charge fees for the minor trust services provided to children.
